Children's Portraiture

There is an openness to children which means you can get a direct insight into their character, and my challenge as a children's portrait photographer is to capture that, and I feel, not get in the way.

Children don’t fake it! They won’t pose when you ask them, they won’t pretend to smile or look like their having fun if their not - So if their smiling, then that’s really them, and that directness is riveting!

​

I don’t use complex lighting set ups or dodgy backgrounds for my portrait sessions because it just gets in the way. No barked instructions, no concepts or visions, no props - And fortunately the results don’t lie! And I use all of my skill, and experience, and heart to capture that.​

I do not put a time limit on children's portrait sessions because I'm a father myself, and I understand that sometimes children can be...well, children. There is no rush with these sessions, no stress.
